Parata vs. sfilata vs. corteo

While the Italian words parata, sfilata, and corteo can all be translated as "parade" or "public procession" in English, they are used in very different contexts. Choosing the correct word depends entirely on the nature of the event: whether it is a formal display of power, a showcase of beauty and entertainment, or a gathering of people walking for a shared cause or solemn occasion.

Parata

The word parata refers to an official, formal, or military procession. It is typically used for highly organized events where groups march in formation to display discipline, power, or civic pride, such as national holidays, military reviews, or large organized public celebrations.
